Mid-June means state baseball championships are on the line for high school teams in Round Rock, and although Southeast Texas won't be represented this season, this weekend's upcoming tournament got me thinking about a local school to lift the trophy at Dell Diamond. Five years ago this Friday, Port Neches-Groves' baseball team brought home the 5A title to Mid-County. Only one local team (Kirbyville, 2019) has gotten back to the state tournament since. I just missed covering that PN-G title team.
